Murray State competed at Panorama Farms in Virginia in the NCAA Southeast Regional
The Murray State women's cross country came home with a school-record 19th place finish at the NCAA Southeast Regional Friday in Earlysville, Virginia.
The Racers' finish highlights an amazing fall of 2025 that saw the team and individuals reach new heights as a program.
In the 6K event, the Racers finish is the best for the program in results that date back to 2005.
Sophomore Liz Smith broke the 6K Murray State record that was set just two weeks prior by teammate Senior Ruth Kimutai at the Missouri Valley Conference Championships. Smith's time of 21:13 landed her in 78th place in the field of 256 runner, the best finish by a Racer since 2016 when Vallery Korir posted a 21:34 for a 38th place finish.
Kimutai posted a 21:44 for the second-best time for the Racers and a 111th place finish, while freshman Molly Robertson posted a 21:46 and placed 113th. Rounding out the MSU Top-5 was senior Jocelyn Host with a 134th place finish in 22:05 and sophomore Autumn Egleston finishing only a second behind her MVC championship time of 22:48. Freshman Abigail Crask matched her lifetime personal best with a time of 23:33 while senior Ainsley Smith passing six runners in the final 3k of the race to finish in 23:38.
"I am so incredibly proud of these ladies," said Coach Jordan Johnston. "The season was more than we could have imagined with three of our runners breaking the MSU program 6K record. We also watch Jocelyn Host drop almost a minute from her PR and having a freshman be our number-6. The future is so bright for this group!"
