Frazier Leads Racers At SMS Invite

Led by sophomore Jamie Frazier's fourth-place individual finish, the Murray State men's golf team played three solid rounds to earn fourth place at the 13-team SMS Highland Spring Invitational which concluded today in Springfield, Mo.
The Racers shot a 298 - 299 - 297 = 894, just one shot behind host Southwest Missouri State and Southern Illinois, which tied for second with three-round totals of 893. MSU led three Ohio Valley Conference schools in the event with Southeast Missouri finishing 10th and Tennessee-Martin earning 13th.
Frazier, a native of Glasgow, Ky., shot a 2-over-par 74 - 72 - 72 = 218 on the 7,057-yard Highland Springs Country Club to lead a pair of Racers in the top 10.
Freshman Nicholas Griffen shot a 74 - 76 - 74 = 224 to finish alone in 10th place, while sophomore Will Cox shot a 73 - 76 - 78 = 227 to earn a tie for 17th in the field of 74 golfers.
Sophomore Kyle Shirley shot 77 - 76 - 75 = 228 to finish tied for 20th, while freshman Michael Craft finished in 35th after shooting 82 - 75 - 76 = 233.
MSU will close out its fall schedule with the Austin Peay Intercollegiate on Oct. 27-28 in Clarksville, Tenn.
