Racers Take To The Road And Knock Off Austin Peay 3-2

MSU (5-10-3, 2-5 OVC), which is 2-0 all-time against the Lady Govs, opened the scoring in the 21st minute as junior forward Jackie Thomas scored her fifth goal of the season on an assist from junior Kristin Robertson for a 1-0 Racer lead.
APSU (5-12-1, 1-6 OVC) tied things up at 1-1 in the 32nd minute on an Amanda McLean goal.
After going into the halftime break even, MSU regained the lead for good in the 60th minute as junior forward Theresa Reedy knocked home her fifth goal of 2003 and a 2-1 lead for the Racers.
After Gustafson's goal made it 3-1, the Lady Govs pulled back to within one goal at 3-2 just :42 seconds laster after Ashley Cannon scored on an unassisted goal, but the MSU defense held strong over the final 14 minutes for the win.
MSU outshot APSU 22-17 overall and 13-7 on-goal, while freshman goalkeeper Heather Jones got the win for the Racers while seeing action in just her second game of the year.
Up next, the Racers will close out the 2003 season by hosting OVC rival Morehead State on Sunday, Nov. 2 at 1 p.m.
