Lady Racers Picked Ninth In OVC Preseason Poll

The Murray State Lady Racers were picked ninth in a poll of the league's coaches and sports information directors announced today at OVC Basketball Media Day at the Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville, Tenn.

MSU, under the leadership of first-year head coach Joi Williams, received 58 points. Southeast Missouri is the slight favorite to win the 2003-04 OVC title receiving 188 points, including 10 first-place votes. Reigning league champion Austin Peay was second with 182 points and nine first-place votes.

Eastern Kentucky was picked third with 167 points and one first-place vote, while Tennessee Tech was fourth with 147 points and two first-place votes.

The 2003-04 Lady Racers will be unveiled on Thursday at 6 p.m. at Fan Jam at the Regional Special Events Center, while MSU will open the 2003-04 exhibition season on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 2 p.m. against the St. Louis Gold Stars at the RSEC.
