Murray State women's basketball announced the signing of Sydney Huber on Friday afternoon
Murray State women's basketball head coach Rechelle Turner announced the signing of Sydney Huber for the 2026-27 season.
Huber comes to the Racers after spending last season with Evansville where she averaged 28.4 minutes per game along with 8.5 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.7 assists . Johnson scored a season-high 18 points against Bradley in February and scored 15 points against the Racers in the Missouri Valley Conference title game.
The Cedar Rapids, Iowa native was named to the All-MVC Freshman Team last season and ranked inside the top five in the Valley in three pointers made.
I am incredibly grateful to Coach Turner and her staff for giving me this opportunity to be a Racer, said Huber. Murray felt like home and I cannot wait to get to work!
Sydney is a perfect fit for our program, said Coach Turner. You would only need to watch Sydney once to understand that basketball is encoded in her DNA. She comes from one of the great families in women's college basketball, and they have to be incredibly proud of the young woman and player she has become. Sydney loves the game. She loves to compete, and she has a burning desire to become the best player she can be. More than anything, Sydney is motivated to be an integral part of a championship program. And she is one of the finest long-range shooters in the country, providing us with one more special weapon for our offensive attack. Racer fans will love watching Sydney play and adding her to the great young women in our program will put us in position to keep pursuing championships here at Murray State. We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Sydney to our women's basketball family!
Prior to her collegiate career, Huber prepped at Mount Vernon High School where she helped win two Iowa state titles. Named First Team All-State twice, Huber scored over 1,000 points in her high school career. Her mom, Stacy, was an All-American at Iowa State from 1996 to 2000 and drafted by one of the original eight WNBA teams, the Utah Starz while her aunts Brenda and Marsha Frese are both collegiate coaches. Brenda serves as the head coach at Maryland where she won a National Championship in 2006 while Marsha is an assistant coach at Georgia Tech.
