Lady Racers Finish Sixth At OVC Championships

The Murray State women's cross country team earned a sixth-place finish at today's Ohio Valley Conference Championships hosted by MSU at the Futures Golf Club in Puryear, Tenn.
Eastern Kentucky edged out league newcomer Samford for the OVC title with 40 points. The Bulldogs were second with 42 points while Southeast Missouri was third with 92 points.
Eastern Illinois was fourth with 97 points, followed by Morehead State in fifth with 147 and the Lady Racers in sixth with 185. Tennessee-Martin was seventh with 195.
Sophomore Heather Vincent led the way for MSU with a 30th-place finish in the field of 73 runners as she covered the 5,000-meter course in 19 minutes, 36.90 seconds.
Sophomore Megan Rainville was 35th with a time of 19:50.10, while sophomore Lauren Wilson was 37th with a 19:57.91 and junior Audra Herndon was 38th with a 20:00.66.
Freshman Amber Bivens was 46th with a 20:29.18, while sophomore Brittany Renfro was 48th with a 20:52.06. Sophomore Trista Curtis earned 56th with a time of 21:41.72 and freshman Betsy Hall was 57th with a 21:51.94.
The OVC Championships close out the 2003 season for the MSU cross country teams.
