The Murray State Lady Racers used a fast-paced offense and a clamp-down defense to push out to as much as an 18-point lead in the first half, then relied on 11-for-12 shooting from the line in the second half to push past St. Louis Gold Star 75-70 in exhibition play this afternoon.
The exhibition, played at the Regional Special Events Center, was the sole exhibition outing for MSU this season.
Junior guard Brittany Park scored 18 of her 34 points in the first half, helping vault the Lady Racers out to as much as a 40-22 lead in the first half before MSU settled in to a 42-30 halftime score.
Park led all scorers with 34 points on 11-for-22 shooting from the field and 6-for-12 shooting from behind the arc. Park also hit all six of her free throws in the game.
Had this been a non-exhibition game, Park's six treys would have tied the MSU single-game record for three-pointers, a record she already shares with four other Lady Racers. Her 12 three-point attempts would have tied for third place on the MSU single-game list, and her 34 points would have tied for 13th.
