Lady Racers Finish Ninth At 17-Team Commodore Classic

The Murray State women's cross country team ran to a ninth-place finish out of 17 teams at the Commodore Classic hosted by Vanderbilt University Saturday in Nashville, Tenn.
The host Commodores won the team title with 27 points, followed by Belmont with 49 points and Southeast Missouri in third with 88 points.
Junior Audra Herndon, a native of Boring, Ore., led the way for MSU after covering the 5,000-meter course in 20 minutes, 27.31 seconds to earn a 23rd-place finish out of 139 runners.
Sopomore Heather Vincent (Hawesville, Ky.) finished 48th with a time of 21:29.43, followed by sophomore Lauren Wilson (Louisville, Ky.) in 56th with a 21:43.64 and freshman Amber Bevins (Hawesville, Ky.) in 85th with a 23:05.12.
Other finishers for MSU included sophomore Trista Curtis (Louisville, Ky.) in 86th with a 23:12.17; freshman Betsy Hall (Charleston, Ill.) in 89 with a 23:40.61; and sophomore Brittany Renfro (Louisville, Ky.) in 92nd with a time of 23:52.56.
Up next for MSU is the Western Kentucky Classic in Bowling Green, Ky. on Saturday, Sept. 20.
