Racers Battle Southeastern Louisiana To A 2-2 Tie At Skyhawk Invitational

MSU (3-1-2) jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the seventh minute after junior forward Theresa Reedy scored her second goal of the weekend and her third on the year .
The Racers increased their lead to 2-0 as senior forward Michelle Fedor scored her second goal of the season on an assist from junior Kristin Robertson in the 41st minute.
After leading 2-0 at halftime, MSU allowed the Lady Lions back into the match as Alexis Tramacchi scored on a free kick in the 50th minute to cut the Racers' lead to 2-1.
Southeastern (5-0-1) tied the match up at 2-2 in the 76th minute as Jen Mongiardi scored on a rebound off of another Lady Lions' free kick.
MSU freshman goalkeeper Annie Fortier turned away nine of 11 shots while playing all 110 minutes of action, including the two 10-minute overtime periods.
The tie was the Racers second in three days at the Skyhawk Invitational while it also marked Southeastern's first blemish on what was a perfect record entering the match.
MSU will next play at home on Friday, Sept. 19 at 4 p.m. as the Racers host IPFW at Cutchin Field.
