MSU (3-4-3) fell behind in the sixth minute as Brooke Lencki-Kennedy scored from 20 yards away on the left side of the goal to give the Purple Aces (2-6-2) the 1-0 lead.
Things stayed that way until the 65th minute when Mary Maschek added to Evansville's lead when she scored on a direct kick from 18 yards out and a 2-0 lead. Kat Ramsay added the final goal in the 76th minute action to close the scoring.
"We're really beat up, mentally and physically, right now," said fourth-year MSU head coach Mike Minielli. "We started a new group today and I was pleased with their effort. The players who've been getting the most minutes for us this year haven't been playing with the effort and energy we need, so I felt like we had to make the change today.
"Hopefully, we can get some things worked out this week and get ready for our conference games."
Up next, the Racers open Ohio Valley Conference play on the road at Samford on Friday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. in Birmingham, Ala., followed by a matchup with Jacksonville State on Sunday, Oct. 5 at 1 p.m. in Jacksonville, Ala.
