Lady Racers Open Season With Fourth-Place Finish At Memphis

The Murray State women's cross country team opened the 2003 season with a fourth-place finish at the 12-team Memphis Twilight Classic hosted by the University of Memphis.
Mississippi State won the team title with 15 points, followed by Memphis with 89 points in second, Arkansas Tech in third with 111 points and MSU in fourth with 114 points. Arkansas-Little Rock was fifth with 136 points.
Sophomore Lauren Wilson (Louisville, Ky.) led the way for the Lady Racers with a ninth-place finish out of 88 runners with a time of 11 minutes, 50.30 seconds on the 2 mile course.
Junior Audra Herndon (Boring, Ore.) finished 18th with a time of 12:06.10, while sophomore Megan Rainville was 27th with a time of 12:33.40.
Sophomore Heather Vincent (Hawesville, Ky.) was 32nd with a time of 12:51.10, followed by sophomore Trista Curtis (Louisville, Ky.) in 39th with a time of 13:10.70, freshman Amber Bevins (Hawesville, Ky.) in 44th with a time of 13:28.70 and freshman Betsy Hall (Charleston, Ill.) in 46th at 13:34.00.
Up next for MSU is the Vanderbilt Invitational in Nashville, Tenn. on Saturday, Sept. 13.
