Carlile scores twice as Racers win 3-1

Kara Carlile scored twice and Theresa Reedy booted in what proved to be the game-winner as Murray State beat Tennessee-Martin 3-1 in Ohio Valley Conference action this afternoon.

Reedy's goal was her 12th of the season, moving her within one of the MSU single-season scoring record, set by Jackie Thomas in 2000.

Tennessee-Martin opened the scoring early in the game, as Katie Behrens took a pass from Lindsey Tilk and popped it in from 10 feet out to give the Skyhawks (2-8-2, 0-4-0 OVC) an early 1-0 lead.

Murray State (6-7-0, 3-1-0 OVC) scored the next three goals, starting with one just 47 seconds after UTM's goal. Scoring attempts from Reedy and Jamie Roche in the mouth of the goal were stopped by UTM defenders, but Carlile found a way to get the ball past the goalie to even the score at 1-1.

In the 18th minute, Reedy sent in her 12th goal of the season on a drive from near midfield. Reedy kicked the ball from 15 yards out to put MSU ahead 2-1.

Carlile got her second goal of the game on a pass from Reedy . Carlile headed the ball in from 10 yards out for the final score in the 29th minute.

Murray State visits Eastern Illinois on Friday at 3 p.m.
