Lady Racer defense, quick offense give them 82-48 exhibition win

The Murray State Lady Racers used a quick offense and a tough defense to pick up an 82-48 exhibition win over Blue Chip Legends, which featured last year's three Lady Racer seniors.
Sophomore guard Ashley Hayes had a game-high 26 points to go with seven assists, five rebounds and three steals. Senior guard Rebecca Remington and freshman guard Alaina Lee put in 13 points each, while freshman guard Shaleea Petty had 11 points and junior guard Jill Fulkerson had 10.
Senior forward Kaleena Miller grabbed a team-high nine rebounds and a game-high five steals, while Petty handed out a game-high 10 assists, claiming a double-double to go with six rebounds.
The Lady Racers had a perfect 9-for-9 night from the line, and committed only 11 turnovers to Blue Chip's 23.
The Legends featured Lady Racer alumnae Stacy Holmes, Jenny Bowden and Megan Fuqua Barnes in their first game at the RSEC since last year's Senior Day.
Bowden handed out a team-high three assists, while Holmes seven points and seven rebounds.
Angela Lackey scored a team-high 12 points, grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds and had a team-high three steals.
The Lady Racers held Blue Chip to 29.7-percent shooting (19-for-64), including a 21.2-percent first half (7-for-33).
Murray State opens its 2004-05 regular-season schedule at the Moran Realty Classic in Chicago, Ill., opening on Friday at No. 20 DePaul at 7:30 p.m.
