Less than two weeks ago, the Murray State Lady Racers traveled to Arkansas-Little Rock, winning thriller, 60-59. Now, the UALR Lady Trojans hope for revenge when they travel to the Regional Special Events Center to face the Lady Racers on Friday night. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
Lady Racer junior guard Jill Fulkerson hit the game-winning jumper with four seconds left, capping off a 13-point comeback over the last 1:38. The Lady Racers scored 17 of the last 21 points, with 12 of those points coming from sophomore guard Ashley Hayes, who set a career-high with 29 points in that game, and also tying a school record by hitting eight three-pointers.
Senior forward Alicia Cash led the Lady Trojans with 18 points and 14 rebounds in that Dec. 4 game, while sophomore forward Jocelyn Love added 15 points and freshman guard Jessica Brown chipped in 10 points in a losing effort.
The Lady Racers (3-3) are led in scoring by senior guard Rebecca Remington, who is averaging 20.0 points per game while playing a team-high 37.0 minutes a game. Remington's 20.0 points per game currently ranks 18th in the nation, while Hayes' 3.3 three-point field goals per game ranks first in the nation. Remington scored 14 points against UALR earlier in the season.
The Lady Trojans (4-6) have not lost since the Dec. 4 game, winning their last three games, including winning the Hyatt Regency Atlanta Invitational on Dec. 11-12, beating Jackson State and Mississippi Valley State. This game is the fourth in a five-game road swing for UALR. They are led by Love, who averages 16.5 points per game, while Cash averages 15.2 points a game and a team-high 8.0 rebounds per game. Love averages 3.0 three-point field goals per game, which ranks seventh in the nation behind Hayes.
