Murray State women's basketball head coach Joi Williams, assistant coach Tombi Bell and several Lady Racer players visited with students at Murray Middle School and Murray Elementary School on Jan. 27 prior to MSU's Ohio Valley Conference home games last week.
MSU players Jill Fulkerson, Megan Fuqua, Ashley Hayes, Brittany Park and Kelly Shelton joined Williams and Bell at Murray Middle School to meet with students on the morning of the 27th, while the Lady Racer coaches, along with Fuqua and Hayes, then met with the students at Murray Elementary school.
The MSU players and coaches answered the students' questions before handing out free ticket coupons to each student for the Lady Racers' game last Saturday against Morehead State.
"It's really a treat for our players and coaches to have the chance to go out and meet with the young people in our schools," Williams said. "There are so many positives involved in meeting with the students, and I hope our basketball program can continue to build a strong relationship throughout the community."
Up next, the Lady Racers begin a five-game road swing through the OVC at Eastern Illinois on Thursday at 5:15 p.m. in Charleston, Ill.
