Early goals push Racers past IPFW

MSU (2-5-0) struck quickly in each half, as freshman Molly Wolfe found the goal in the sixth minute off of a corner kick to get her first game-winning goal of the season and her second goal of the year with 39:10 left in the first half.
Senior Theresa Reedy also made a quick goal, taking a header from freshman Sarah Struve and placing it into the net just 2:58 into the second half. The goal was Reedy's sixth of the season, already tying her for fifth place on the Murray State single-season goals list. The assist was Struve's second of the season.
Jones (1-2-0) turned away eight saves, with six of those coming in the second half. The shutout is MSU's second of the season, with sophomore goalie Annie Fortier blanking Valparaiso 1-0 on Sept. 5.
Reedy had a game-high four shots, with three of those shots being on goal. Nicole Halls, Anika Apar and Kristy Arnett each led the Mastodons (1-3-0) with three shots each, and Arnett and Meghan Doehla each had two shots on goal.
IPFW goalkeeper Shannon Lynn (0-1-0) turned away five first-half saves, while Timeka Bailey had three stops in the second half.
IPFW outshot Murray State 19-14, with the Racers outshooting the Mastodons 10-7 in the first half and IPFW getting 12 second-half shots to MSU's four.
Murray State returns home to host Drake on Sunday at 11 a.m. at MSU's Cutchin Field adjacent to the Curris Center.
