Roche took a pass in front of the goal from freshman Jen Nowak, who had two assists on the day, bringing her team-leading total to three. Her two assists ties for second on the MSU single-game assists list. The game-winner came 4:18 into the second overtime.
Drake (3-4-1) outshot Murray State 9-1 in the first half, 21-8 in regulation and 4-2 in the overtime periods. The Bulldogs came into Murray with a 3-0-1 mark over their last four games, with wins over UC-Davis, Iowa and Western Kentucky.
Drake opened the scoring when Kristin Underwood drove through the Racer backfield and took a shot from 15 yards out. The goal -- her first of the season -- came just 14:15 into the game.
In the second half, the Bulldogs struck early again, as Sarah Foote scored her first goal of the year on a pass from Underwood. Foote took the pass, spun around her defender and put the ball in the goal just 7:45 into the second half.
Murray State (3-5-0) picked it up from there. Freshman defender Molly Wolfe took a pass from Nowak in front of the goal and put it in just three minutes after Foote's goal, closing the gap to 2-1.
Senior forward Theresa Reedy put in her seventh goal of the season on a pass from Nowak from the left side of the goal with just 1:25 left in regulation. Reedy's seven goals this season ties her for fourth place on the MSU single-season goals list. Her 28 career goals is the most of an Racer soccer player.
"We knew coming in that Drake was a very good team," said MSU head coach Mike Minielli. "They are one of the better teams that we'll play all year. We knew they would have more ball possession than us, and they're a very physical, big team, so when they get the ball around their feet, you can't get to it.
"Our plan was to keep them out wide and make them run through layers of our defense, to make it harder for them to score. We also knew their weakness was balls in the box. They let them bounce, so we wanted to get the ball forward, draw some fouls and get the ball in the box, and I think all three of our goals came that way.
"We did an excellent job on execution," he said. "Our kids gave up one bad goal early, but they kept their heads up. That tying goal (by Reedy) was amazing!"
Reedy had a team-high four shots, while Roche had a team-high three shots on goal.
Sophomore goalkeeper Annie Fortier (2-3-0) faced 11 shots, turning away nine saves, including three in overtime.
For Drake, Andrea Schmitz had a game-high seven shots and five shots on goal. Goalie Kate Stack (3-4-1) faced six shots, turning away three saves, including one in the second overtime.
Murray State visits Evansville on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The Racers then open their Ohio Valley Conference schedule on Sunday at noon CT at Morehead State.
