Junior forward Jessie Hirsch earned this week's Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week award for her play in the games at Samford and Jacksonville State.
Hirsch is the first player this season to earn the award who does not play for Southeast Missouri State. This marks the fifth time this season for a Lady Racer to earn a weekly OVC honor.
The 6-1 native of Valmeyer, Ill., earned the award by averaging 14.5 points, bolstered by a team-high 16 points at Samford on 6-for-10 shooting (including a 4-for-8 night from three-point range) to go with a co-team-high four steals.
At Jacksonville State, she put in 13 points while going 3-for-3 from three-point range and 4-for-4 from the line.
Hirsch came to Murray State this season from Southwestern Illinois College.
Murray State concludes a three-game road swing tomorrow (Tuesday) at Tennessee-Martin in a 5:30 p.m. game.
