Remington earns OVC weekly honor

Senior guard Rebecca Remington marked her 22nd birthday by being named the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week for games played during the Christmas-New Year's Day holidays. The honor is the second for her this season and the third for the Lady Racers this year.

Remington was named to the All-Cyclone Classic Team after averaging 20.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game in the tournament. She hit 50 percent of her shots, going 16-for-32 from the field. In the tournament's opening game against Mercer, Remington scored a game-high 20 points on 8-for-13 shooting. Against tournament host Iowa State, Remington scored 21 points and grabbed a co-team-high five rebounds.

Remington was named OVC Player of the Week on Nov. 29. Sophomore guard Ashley Hayes earned the honor on Dec. 6.

Murray State opens its OVC schedule at home on Thursday at 5:15 p.m. against Morehead State.
