Lady Racers announce signees

The Murray State women's basketball team announced three signees for the 2005-06 season, including a pair of record-setting twins from Kentucky.
AMBER GUFFEY, PG, 5-8, Albany, Ky.
Amber averaged 19.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 9 assists per game last season at Clinton County High School, helping that team to the state championship game. She is the valedictorian of her class with a 4.0 grade-point average. She has scored more than 2,600 career points, and with her sister Paige, mark the only teammates in state history to finish with more than 2,500 career points.
She shot better than 62 percent from the field last season and 87 percent from the line, the third-highest single-season percentage in Kentucky history. Her 276 assists last year were the third-best in state history. She helped CCHS to two of the last three All-A state championships.
She is a two-time Associated Press All-State First-Team honoree and a two-times Top 20 All-Star at the prestigious Blue-Chip High Exposure Camp in Louisville. She was an AAU 17 & Under All-American.
PAIGE GUFFEY, SG, 5-8, Albany, Ky.
The sister of Amber, Paige averaged 21 points and 6 rebounds per game last season at Clinton County High School. She is the salutatorian of her class with a 4.0 grade-point average.
She scored more than 3,100 career points, and was the second-leading three-point shooter in state history, hitting more than 100 three-pointers in each of the last two seasons.
Paige was a two-time all-state player, ranking No. 2 in the AP balloting this season, and was a two-time Top 20 All-Star at the prestigious Blue-Chip High Exposure Camp in Louisville.
She was the 4th Region Player of the Year last season.
Paige won the Most Valuable Player award at the Pinkerington (Ohio) Christmas Tournament as a sophomore.
ERICA GORDIAN, P, 6-0, Elkton, Ky.
A 2001 graduate of Todd County High School, Gordian comes to Murray State from Imperial Valley Community College in El Centro, Calilf., where she averaged 16 points and 9 rebounds per game last season and 22 points and 10.7 rebounds per game in conference play.
Gordian was the Pacific Coast Conference Player of the Year last year, helping the team sweep the conference awards, as her coach won Coach of the Year honors.
Gordian was named All-State First Team among California Junior Colleges last season, placing second in the conference in scoring and rebounding, and led the conference in free-throw shooting and three-point shooting. She was also fourth in the conference in assists and blocked shots. She shot over 45 percent from the field, 38 percent from three-point range and 86 percent from the free-throw line last season.
