Murray State is not alone among Ohio Valley Conference schools listed among the top free-throw-shooting teams in the nation. Samford -- listed at No. 2 last week -- is No. 5 in the nation at .769, Tennessee Tech is No. 14 at .756, and Eastern Illinois is No. 31 at .740.
Only MSU freshman Amber Guffey and junior Joi Scott would qualify for the NCAA's individual ranking, having made at least 2.5 free throws per game. Both are shooting .837, with Guffey going 41-for-49 and Scott hitting 36 of her 43 attempts.
Other standouts from the line for the Lady Racers are Erica Gordian (.880, 22-for-25) and Ashley Nichole Hayes (.793, 23-for-29). Paige Guffey has made all six of her attempts and Jessica Jackson has made both of hers, while Shaleea Petty is 10-for-11, a .909 rate.
Other categories where the Lady Racers rank among the top 25 percent in the nation are: scoring, 39th (72.1 ppg), three-point field goals, 61st (6.1 per game) and fewest turnovers per game, 64th (16.0 per game).
