Scott earns OVC Newcomer honor

Junior forward Joi Scott has earned her second Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week honor of the season, according to a release issued by the league office this afternoon.

Scott earned this week's honor by averaging 21.7 points and 9.7 rebounds per game in the Lady Racers' three games. She had a double-double -- her third in seven games this season -- against Tennessee State, scoring 21 points and pulling down 12 rebounds, both game-highs. She also had 19 points and nine rebounds against Southeast Missouri State.

Scott also earned OVC Newcomer of the Week on Dec. 19. She leads Murray State with 21.9 points and 9.9 rebounds per game to go with a team-high 1.6 blocked shots per game.

Murray State hosts Austin Peay on Thursday at 3 p.m. in the Regional Special Events Center. That game ends a three-game homestand for the Lady Racers, who will take an eight-day layoff after that game before visiting Tennessee-Martin on Jan. 21.
