MSU Soccer Upset BY JSU

The Murray State Women's Soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision Friday to visiting Jacksonville State. The loss at Cutchin Field gives the Racers a 2-3-2 mark in the Ohio Valley Conference while the Gamecocks improve to 2-3-1. The Racers return home Sunday for a 1 p.m. match against Samford.
The Racers took a 1-0 lead when Rebekah Clay scored from 25 yards on the left wing at the 14th minute. Clay, the 2005 OVC Freshman of the Year leads the league with 9 goals this season and in points with 22.
The game stayed in the Racers favor until JSU's Britanny Gardner scored the equalizer at the 76th minute off a pass from Kristi Pereira.
Jacksonville State then took the lead in the 81st minute on a goal by Sarah McAuley which was a header after a set up by Courtney Moore.
The Racers mounted a rally in the final eight minutes but could not tie the game.
