Lady Racers To Visit Western Kentucky

The Murray State Lady Racers continue their challenging three-game road swing with a game at regional rival Western Kentucky. Tipoff is set for Monday at 7 p.m., and fans can hear all the action live through WNBS (1340 AM, Murray) or through the audio link provided at www.GoRacers.com.
In its last game, Murray State (2-1) ran off unanswered scoring spurts of 12 and 10 points, but were unable to overcome homestanding Southern Illinois in a 77-68 loss. Senior Joi Scott had game-highs with 28 points and 12 rebounds, setting a career-high in free throws with a 10-for-13 night from the line.
Western Kentucky (1-1) is coming off of a heart-breaking 86-78 loss to No. 15 Vanderbilt in Bowling Green on Thursday. The Lady Toppers led76-69 with 3:51 left in the game, but the Commodores outscored WKU 17-2 the rest of the way. Dominique Duck paced the Lady Toppers with 22 points to go with eight rebounds.
In their meeting with Western Kentucky last season, the Lady Racers were held to 27.6-percent shooting in WKU's 86-59 win on Nov. 26, 2005, in Murray. LadyTopper Tiffany Porter-Talbert led all scorers with 19 points, while Crystal Kelly grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds for WKU.
Murray State was led by 17 points from ALaina Lee. Erica Gordian and Jessie Hirsch each grabbed eight boards for the Lady Racers.
"This is a good game for us to see how we measure up," said MSU head coach Joi Felton of Monday's game. "They have a lot of tradition in that program, and are always a competitive team."
The Lady Toppers are ranked 35th in this week's ESPN/USA Today/WBCA women's basketball poll.
Murray State closes out this road swing on Nov. 28 at Cincinnati.
