Scott Named OVC Player Of The Week

Senior forward Joi Scott was named Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week, according to a release issued by the league office this afternoon. Balloting was done by conference sports information contacts.
Scott had 23 points on 10-for-15 shooting from the field in her only game this week, Murray State's 77-63 win over pre-season favorite Samford on Sunday. Scott also had a game-high eight rebounds and co-game-high two steals in the game.
The honor is the first of the season for Scott and the Lady Racers, and the second such honor in Scott's two-year career at MSU. Scott earned six OVC Newcomer of the Week honors last season.
Scott was the OVC Pre-Season Player of the Year this season, and leads the Lady Racers with 17.9 points and 8.4 rebounds per game, shooting 53.3 percent from the field. In conference play, she is averaging 20.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per game, shooting an amazing 81.3 percent from the field.
Murray State (6-3, 3-0 OVC) hosts league rival Jacksonville State (4-8, 1-2 OVC) on Tuesday at 5:15 p.m.
