The Murray State Lady Racers return home after a challenging three-game road swing to take on Lipscomb in non-conference action Monday at 5:15 p.m. in the Regional Special Events Center.
The Lady Racers (2-3) strived to find ways to improve their game against the likes of Cincinnati, Western Kentucky and Southern Illinois, and are ready to play a game at home. Lipscomb (3-5) is coming off of a home conference split last weekend, beating Jacksonville 64-61 on Thursday, but falling to North Florida 53-44 on Saturday.
Murray State provides the Lady Bisons with its third Ohio Valley Conference opponent in its last six games. LU beat Austin Peay 56-55 at the Memphis Lady Tiger Classic on Nov. 24, but lost to Tennessee State 64-52 at home on Nov. 27.
In their last game, the Lady Racers battled host Cincinnati on Nov. 28 through the first half, but wee out-rebounded 29-8 in the second half en route to the 74-57 loss.
"We've been working on rebounding this week," said MSU head coach Joi Felton. "That's an area of concern for us. In all five of our games thus far, we have not done a very good job of boxing out and rebounding.
"Lipscomb is a very disciplined team. They do a good job of running thier offense and a good job in executing. They have a couple of guards who work well on the perimeter and some good size inside as well. We need to do a good job inside, and we need to box out and rebound."
The game can be heard locally on WNBS (1340 AM, Murray) or through the live audio link at www.GoRacers.com, which will also feature Live Stats of the game. Video streaming is available at www.OVCsports.TV.
In the only previous meeting between these teams, Lipscomb used a strong first half to take a 40-25 halftime lead en route to the 75-61 win on Dec. 4, 2001, in Nashville. Brittany Park led MSU with 19 points off the bench, while Rebecca Remington added 11 points, five rebounds and three assists. Eniko Verebes had team-highs with eight rebounds and eight assists, while RiQuita Thomas added seven boards to help MSU out-rebound LU 38-35.
