Spring Try-out Information
Both squads are selected from the spring try-outs. The try-out process will last from Friday-Sunday. Mascot try-outs will be held during this time.
Try-outs for the 2006-2007 Cheerleading Squad will be held April 21-23. If needed, 1st cuts will be made the morning of the 22nd.
General try-outs information, application and/or requirements may be downloaded from this page. Try-out applications need to be submitted as early as possible, if you are considering trying out for Murray State Cheerleading Program. The Deadline is April 7th!!!!!!!
General Requirements
You must be a full-time Murray State University student with a minimum grade point average of 2.5 semester and cumulative. If you are an incoming freshmen or an incoming transfer student you must have an official letter of acceptance attached to your application. All students currently enrolled at MSU must attach a copy of their student ID.
All applicants should be aware of the following:
* For sessions (April 22& 23) all participants are required to wear navy blue shorts with a white plain T-shirt. Women are also asked to wear hair half up with white bow. Men clean cut and shaven!!
* Please attach a copy of either your Racer Card or a copy of your letter of acceptance PLUS a copy of your medical insurance card to your Cheer application. Also if you have any pending injuries that will limit your ability to participate as a Murray State Cheerleader needs to be accompanied with a doctor's note. Stating that you can participate in the sport of cheerleading. Also a color photograph of your self should be attached. Send Video showing your skills by Deadline April 7th!!!!!!!!!!
* There is a $20.00 non-refundable application fee.
Practices:
The Blue team (Co-Ed) will practice Sunday 3:30 ? 5:00 pm, Wednesday 3:00 ? 5:30 pm and Friday 3:00 ? 4:30 pm. The Gold team (SM-Co-Ed/All-Girl) will practice Monday 2:30 ? 4:30pm, Wednesday 2:30 ? 4:30 pm and Friday 2:30 ? 4:00pm in south gym located in Carr Health on the side facing the library. Eligible (Blue) candidates will not be permitted to take classes during the time of practices. Eligible (Gold) candidates will not be permitted to take classes during these times. The only exceptions that will be made will be for graduating seniors. Practices are MANDATORY, if you are unable to attend you will not cheer. Practice days (Fridays are specialty) and times for the 2006-2007 season are subject to change. Adequate notice will be given if changes are made. Note: Fridays are tentative ( Only to clean or work on specialty skills).
Work-outs:
So that everyone remains healthy, the cheerleaders follow a work-out program that last throughout the season. Workouts are MANDATORY. Team Work-outs will be scheduled for Monday and Wednesday mornings at 6am-7am. If you are unable to workout with the team, you will not cheer. Participants are encouraged to be in shape before trying out and maintain fitness throughout the summer and year.
