Scott Named OVC Player Of The Week

Lady Racers senior forward Joi Scott was the unanimous choice for Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week in balloting done by league sports information contacts. This is her second OVC weekly honor this season.
Scott averaged 25.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game in her two games last week, leading all candidates in both categories. Scott also shot 74.2 percent from the field (23-for-31), averaged 2.5 steals and 2.0 blocked shots per contest. She scored 28 points on 12-for-14 shooting and grabbed eight rebounds in the Lady Racers' 93-67 win over Eastern Illinois last Monday. She followed that up with 23 points and 13 rebounds while shooting 11-for-17 from the field in the 83-55 victory at Tennessee State on Thursday.
Scott leads the league in scoring at 20.6 points per game, ranking 21st in Division I in the Dec. 31 NCAA rankings. Scott also leads the OVC in field-goal percentage (.604) and is second in the conference with 1.50 blocked shots per game, fourth in the OVC in rebounding with 8.7 rebounds per game and sixth in the conference with 1.83 steals per game.
The Murray State Lady Racers (9-3, 6-0 OVC) will defend its hold atop the league standings tonight at 5:15 p.m. against Southeast Missouri State (10-4, 5-1 OVC) at the Regional Special Events Center.
