Taylor Crawford Named OVC Co-Runner and Pepsi-MSU Athlete of the Week

Murray State sophomore Taylor Crawford was recognized for her efforts at the University of Evansville Invitational last weekend, when she was named Ohio Valley Conference Co-Runner of the Week for the week of Oct. 13, the league office announced.
She is also this week's Pepsi-MSU Athlete of the Week.
Crawford, from Owensboro, Ky., was one of nine runners that helped the Racers win the 5k UE Invitational, with a total time of 1:33:43.49, and an average time of 18:44.70. Individually, Crawford's individual time of 18:33.01 was good for seventh place out of 124 runners, as Crawford led the Racer attack that included five of the top 16 runners at the event.
Murray State's score of 46 won the event by a large margin (30 points), besting Creighton, Evansville, Lipscomb, Valparaiso, Tennessee-Martin, Oakland Community College, Marian College, St. Louis College of Pharmacy, Benedictine (Ill.), Kentucky Wesleyan, Stephens College, and Oakland City.

The win was the first this season for the Racers under new assistant coach Chris England, and the third in head coach Dereck Chavis' three-year tenure at Murray State.
The Racers will look to build on their momentum at their next meet, the 2007 OVC Cross Country Championships on Oct. 27. The event is hosted by Samford University and will take place at Spain Park High School in Hoover, Ala.
