Gold Wins 2007 Fall World Series

The Gold team took a 2-1 lead and pushed it to 5-1 with three runs in the top of the sixth inning, but it had to hold off a last-inning comebcak bid by the Navy team to take the win 5-3, winning the 2007 Fall World Series three games to two. The Fall World Series is the traditional end to the Murray State Thoroughbreds' fall practice.
Jake Donze got the win for the Gold team, allowing one run on three hits, striking out three and walking two in four innings. Marc Harmon closed out the game, allowing two runs on three hits, walking one in three innings.
Blake Helm, Kyle Tiernan, Chad Allen and Daniel Miller each had two hits for the Gold team, which amassed 10 hits in the win.
Lucas Allen took the loss for the Navy team, allowing three runs on seven hits, striking out three and walking one in five innings. Matt McGaha closed out the game, allowing two unearned runs on no hits, striking out one and walking none in two innings.
Brooks Thornton and Chris Craycraft each had two hits for the Navy team.
Murray State opens the 2008 season with a home double-header against Butler on Feb. 23.
