Hayes Earns Pepsi Athlete Of The Week Honors

Junior guard/forward Ashley Hayes earned her third Pepsi Athlete of the Week award and her third straight Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week honor, based on balloting done among the league's women's basketball sports information contacts.

Hayes averaged 20.7 points and 9.3 rebounds in the three games played from Dec. 18 to Dec. 30, the period being used for the holiday break balloting. She garnered her seventh double-double of the season with a 14-point, 14-rebound game against Alabama A&M on Dec. 22. She had game-highs with 27 points and nine rebounds at Samford on Dec. 20, going 5-for-8 from three-point range, and had 21 points and five boards at Jacksonville State on Dec. 18, her first game of the season with fewer than nine rebounds.

Hayes also earned OVC Player of the Week honors for the weeks ending Dec. 10 and Dec. 17.
