Lady Racer assistant coach Rob Cross withdrew his name from consideration for the head coach position at Quincy, electing to remain at Murray State.
After successfully interviewing for the position, Cross informed officials at the Quincy, Ill., university that he wanted to stay at Murray State.
"I appreciate the opportunity given to me by Quincy's athletics director, Pat Atwell, and president, David Schachtsiek," Cross said. "Although it was a wonderful opportunity to take over a successful program, my heart led me to stay at Murray State.
"I am excited about the direction of the Lady Racer program, and I know that Jody Adams will do a phenomenal job, and I am proud to be continuing to compete for the OVC championship as a Racer. I am excited about being a part of Jody Adams' staff."
"I am excited about Rob staying on at Murray State," Adams said. "He will be an integral part of our staff, with his recruiting knowledge and knowing these student-athletes not only as athletes, but also as people. His experience in the OVC and in recruiting the state of Kentucky and this region will be an asset."
Cross was hired as a Lady Racer assistant coach prior to the 1995-96 season under then-head coach Eddie Fields. Cross will have served under three head coaches in his tenure: Fields, Joi Williams Felton and Adams. Adams was hired as Murray State's women's basketball head coach on April 17.
