Amber Guffey Named OVC Player of the Week

Senior Amber Guffey added to her awards for the Thanksgiving weekend, as she was named the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week after the Murray State women's basketball team went 2-1 last week.

Guffey scored 52 of her 64 points last week at the Coors Rocky Mountain Invitational. She was one point shy of tying her career record with 36 points against Colorado State in a come-from-behind victory. The Albany, Ky., earned all-tournament honors for her efforts after scoring 21 of her 36 points in the first half versus the Rams. She shot 57.9 percent from the field for the week, including going 12-of-18 against CSU. She also had a season-high five rebounds, 12 field goals and five three-pointers versus the Rams.

MSU will continue its five-game road stand with stops in Richmond and Morehead, Ky., this week for the start of the OVC schedule. The Racers face Eastern Kentucky, Thursday, Dec. 4 at 4:30 p.m. and then travel to take on Morehead State, Saturday, De. 6 at 1 p.m.
