Amber Guffey Named Pepsi Athlete Of The Week

MSU women's basketball student-athlete Amber Guffey is the Pepsi Athlete of the Week.

The senior was also named the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week after the Murray State women's basketball team went 2-1 at the Colorado State Tournament on Thanksgiving weekend.

Guffey scored 52 of her 64 points last week at the Coors Rocky Mountain Invitational. She was one point shy of tying her career record with 36 points against Colorado State in a come-from-behind victory. The Albany, Ky., earned all-tournament honors for her efforts after scoring 21 of her 36 points in the first half versus the Rams. She shot 57.9 percent from the field for the week, including going 12-of-18 against CSU. She also had a season-high five rebounds, 12 field goals and five three-pointers versus the Rams.
