Think Pink Night Planned Saturday At MSU Basketball

The Murray State Racer basketball teams have a big night planned as part of national “Think Pink” week when the MSU men's and women's teams host Eastern Illinois Saturday at the Regional Special Events Center. The first game of the double-header begins at 5:30 p.m.
National “Think Pink” Week is sponsored by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association and is aimed at raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond.
The MSU Athletic Department is asking for the support of all Racer fans attending the games to wear pink to the game. Fans that do wear pink will be admitted for $2.50.
Fans won't be the only ones wearing pink! Both coaching staffs will be wearing pink, both teams will be wearing pink warm-up shirts and the cheerleaders will also be wearing pink.
In an effort to educate Racer fans on ways to reduce their chances of getting breast cancer and early detection opportunities, a breast cancer educational area will be set up in upper concourse-A with exhibitors including, Murray Calloway County Hospital, Western Baptist Hospital, Lourdes Hospital, Dr. Matthew Price ? Primary Care OBGYN, McKinney Insurance, Calloway County Breast & Cervical Coalition, Colleges Against Cancer, Dr. Matt Wiggins, MSU Health Services, 8th Wonders Relay For Life Team, Look Good Feel Better, American Cancer Society, Calloway County Relay For Life, The Cup & Stone Bodywork Center, Essential Day Spa, and Dumplin's Restaurant.
There will be several drawings for participants to win free mammograms, massages and other prizes.
3000 pink rally towels provided by MCCH will be placed in the seats to also help paint the RSEC pink and remind Racer fans about the importance of early screening to prevent breast cancer.
Over 700 breast cancer survivors from surrounding counties have received invitations including a free ticket to the game. They will be seated together in a special section and will be recognized during both the women's & men's games.
Donations will be collected at halftime by the 8th Wonders Relay For Life of Calloway County Breast Cancer Survivor team and all proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society to help fight this vicious disease.
