Notes From Semifinal Game vs. Samford

? Murray State advances to its second straight Ohio Valley Conference championship game after its 68-56 victory over Samford Friday afternoon.
? It is also the fourth time in school history the Racers will be playing for the OVC Tournament championship. The Racers are still in search of their first tournament championship and trip to the NCAA Tournament.
? This is the second time the Racers will be playing in back-to-back OVC Tournament championship games. The previous time was 1989 and 1990.
? The victory improved the Racers to 2-1 all-time in the Nashville Municipal Auditorium.
? The victory improved the Racers to 23-7 on the season and set a new record for wins in a season, breaking the old record of 22 set during the 1988-89 season.
? The semifinal game against Samford marked the 25th time that the Racers used the starting lineup of Ashley Hayes, Angela Brown, Amber Guffey, Shaleea Petty and Alaina Lee. MSU is 19-6 in those contests.
? Ashley Hayes' 12-point performance marked the 30th time this season (30 games) that she has scored in double figures. It is also the 34th straight game she has reached double digits.
? Hayes added 12 rebounds for the 10th double-double of the season and 20th of her career.
? Amber Guffey's four three-pointers give 68 on the season, the second most in school history. She needs only four more tie Meagan Fuqua (2003-04) to tie the school record.
? Guffey handed out five assists to take her season total to 133, breaking her own record of 132 set last season. She needs four more to tie Julie Pinson for fifth on the single-season list.
? Angela Brown scored 15 points, one shy of her career high set against Bethel, and added six rebounds and three blocks. She now has 46 blocks on the season, which is one shy of second-place on the single-season list.
? MSU increased its record to 19-1 on the season when leading at the half.
? The Racers have now won a season-best eight-straight games.
? The victory over Samford put an end to women's basketball in the Ohio Valley Conference for the Bulldogs. Samford is headed to the Southern Conference at the end of the Spring season.
? Racer fans are invited to a pep rally/send-off party Saturday morning at 9 a.m. in the lobby of the Millenium Maxwell House hotel.
