MSU Athletics Wins Team/Individual Academic Awards From Ohio Valley

The Medal of Honor award is given annually to student-athletes who achieve the highest grade point average in the league, a 4.0 GPA.
Murray State's winners of the Medal of Honor award came from ten teams and included: Will Cartwright (baseball), Amber Guffey and Paige Guffey (women's basketball), Alaina Zanin (women's cross country and track & field), Will Werner (football), Chris Griffin (men's golf), Sarah Seay (women's golf), Jen Nowak (women's soccer), and Jadir Semensin (men's tennis).
The OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll goes to student-athletes who have a 3.25 GPA or better and were eligible for their team in the 2007-08 season.

Three Murray State teams won the OVC Academic Achievement Award which is given to one team in each league sponsored sport who has the greatest percentage of its members named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll. MSU Men's Golf is coached by Eddie Hunt, Women's Golf by Velvet Milkman, and MSU Rifle by Alan Lollar.
"I congratulate Velvet, Eddie, and Alan on the success their teams achieved in the classroom," Ward added. "They have instilled tremendous pride in being champions both academically and athletically."
“Academics are a very important part of our program,” Milkman said. “Winning the conference Academic Achievement Award was one of our team goals and I'm extremely proud that we achieved our goal.”
