Three of the seven recruits that Murray State Head Women's Basketball Coach Rob Cross has signed to play for the Racers starting in the 2009-10 campaign were recently picked as three of the top-10 girls high school basketball players in the State of Kentucky.
Each year Blue Chip Camp.com releases its list of top 50 players in Kentucky and this season Murray State recruits Kayla Cunningham, Jessica Holder, and Mariah Robinson have all been named to that list. The list is also broken up into the top senior high school players and all three were ranked among the top 10 in each category.
“It is nice to see that our recruits are gaining the respect of those in the recruiting circles,” said Cross. “But being ranked as one of the top players in the state doesn't matter to me as much as what they will prove on the court when they get to Murray State.”
Blue Chip Camp will be hosting a 16-team tournament, Saturday, Jan. 10 called “Shooting for the Cure.” The tournament is in its sixth year and is put on to help benefit the James Graham Brown Cancer Center. The event also includes a silent auction and raffle items. This year's silent auction items include a signed basketball by Murray State coach Rob Cross as well as signed items from Magic Johnson, Dr. J, Pat Summit, Rick Pitino, Matthew Mitchell, Mary Cowles, David Smith, Tony Cross, and John Pherly.
