Hayes Earns Back-To-Back OVC Player of the Week Honors

Murray State women's basketball senior Ashley Hayes has
been named the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week for the
second-straight week. The Humboldt,
Tenn., native was honored because of her outstanding performances for the Racers
(11-6, 6-1 OVC) two victories last week over Jacksonville State and Tennessee
Tech.

tallied a career-high 32 points against
In
the win over the Golden Eagles, Hayes recorded 18 points and eight rebounds to
help the Racers to just their third win over Tennessee Tech on the road. The
22-point victory was also the largest margin of victory over the Golden Eagles
in school history. For the week she averaged 25.0 points and 9.0 rebounds.
The
Racers will now put their undefeated home record on the line when they host
Eastern Illinois, Thursday, Jan. 22 at 5:15 p.m. in the Regional Special Events
Center. The battle with the Panthers
will determine sole possession of first place in the OVC standings, as Murray
State and EIU are currently tied for first with 6-1 league records. This week's action also includes a match-up
against Southeast Missouri State, Saturday, Jan. 24 at 5:15 p.m. in the RSEC.
