Racers Gear Up for Final Meet Before OVC Championships

The Murray State cross country teams will return to action this Saturday, Oct. 17th as they compete in the Evansville at the UE Cross Country Course in Evansville, Ind. The men will run an 8k at 11 a.m. followed by the women's 5k at 11:30 a.m.
The Racers finished second out of seven teams on the women's side two weeks ago at the Tennessee Tech Invite as Taylor Crawford turned in her best finish of the season, finishing second in the 5k with a time of 18:59.29. Katelyn Jones and Asenath Na'Aman also posted top five finishes as they finished fourth and fifth, respectively. Kristen Miller saw her first action of the season and turned in a 22nd place finish.
On the men's side, Theron Chalepah led the Racers with a 16th place finish. Freshman Derek Perry put together another solid performance as he finished 22nd in the 8k run. As a team, the men finished fifth out of six teams competing over the weekend.
Jones, Crawford and Karissa Magnuson helped the Racers finish third last year at the UE Invitational, as they each turned in a top-15 finish.
Among the teams competing at the UE Invitational include OVC foes Austin Peay, Eastern Illinois, Southeast Missouri State and Tennessee Tech. Other division I teams competing in the 16 team event are, Belmont, Evansville, Lipscomb and Marshall.
This will be the Racers last meet before heading to Nashville, Tenn. to compete in the OVC Championships Oct. 31 at 9 a.m.
