Hayes Claims Fourth OVC Player of the Week Honor

Murray State women's basketball senior Ashley Hayes strung together the two best consecutive scoring games by a Racer in school history, set the single game scoring record, put her name on two NCAA individual performance lists and has now been named the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week for the fourth-straight week that Murray State competed. She was named OVC Player of the Week for Jan. 12, Jan. 19, and Jan. 26 before missing the Feb. 2 week since the Racers did not compete due to the ice storm that forced the team to reschedule its Jan. 31 game against UT Martin for Feb. 23.

She followed up her performance at TSU with 36 points versus Austin Peay, making it the best two-game performance in school history. For the week, Hayes recorded 41.0 points per game while shooting 65.1 percent from the floor, including hitting 58.8 percent of her three-point attempts. She was also a perfect 16-for-16 from the line.
Murray State's next contest will be, Thursday, Feb. 12 at the Regional Special Events Center. The Racers will take on Tennessee Tech at 5:15 p.m.
