Less than a week after becoming the first Murray State women's basketball student-athlete to be invited to a WNBA Training Camp, senior Ashley Hayes has signed a free agent contract with the Connecticut Sun.
“My work is not done yet,” said Hayes. “I am still focused on making it through training camp and I am confident that I will represent myself to the best of my abilities.”
The back-to-back Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year and 2009 State Farm Coaches' All-American Regional Finalist will attend the Sun's 2009 Training Camp starting May 17 where she will be vying for one of 11 roster spots on next season's team.
“Ashley is just one of about 135 players invited to a WNBA Training Camp and she is certainly worthy of this honor,” said head coach Rob Cross. “I know that the entire Racer women's basketball family will be behind her and cheering on her success.”
