Women Finish Third, Men Fifth, at Saluki Invitational

The Murray State women's cross country team placed third, while the men's team finished fifth at the Saluki Invitational in Carbondale, Ill. this morning.
Katelyn Jones finished a team-best fifth place with a time of 18:54 in the women's 5k this morning for the Racers. Taylor Crawford turned in a top 10 finish as well as she finished 10th with a time of 19:32 for MSU. Asenath Na'Aman and Karissa Magnuson rounded out the Racers top 20 finishers as they finished 12th and 15th, respectively.
Kayla Crusham, Jami Kloenne and Bridget Stichnot also ran for the Racers this morning as they finished 31st, 39th and 44th, respectively.
The women turned in a third place finish out of the six team event as host Southern Illinios-Carbondale finished first in the competition.
In the men's competition over 8,000-meters, the Racers finished fifth out of seven teams competing. Andrew Beckman was the top Racer as he finished 28th with a time of 28:28. Andy Pack was the next quickest Racer as he finished 50th with a time of 29:58. Christopher Dels saw his first collegiate action as he finished 57 in the competition with a time of 30:23.
Also competing for the men was Jack Findley, Theron Chalepah and Andrew Smithson as they finished 53rd, 61st and 76th, respectively.
The host Salukis would take the men's competition as well as they finished with 15 points.
The Racers will be back in action Friday, Oct. 2, at 3 p.m. as they head to Cookeville, Tenn. to compete in the Tennessee Tech Invite.
