Freshman has second-most receptions in school history
After turning in one of the best single-game performances in Racer history, redshirt freshman Arthur Brackett was named the Ohio Valley Conference Co-Newcomer of the Week, the league office announced Sunday.
In his return to his home state, Brackett (Madison, Ala.) hauled in 13 passes for 96 yards as the Racers nearly pulled off an upset of #4 Jacksonville State. The 13 receptions tied for the second most in school history, trailing only the 16 catches by Harvey Tanner against Austin Peay in 1967. Brackett is the third player to record 13 receptions in a game, joining James Huff (1990) and Lee McCormick (1985). The 13 receptions are also the second most in the FCS this season.
On the season, Brackett leads the Racers with 38 catches for 326 yards and two touchdowns. He ranks sixth in the FCS in catches and ninth in catches per game (7.60).
