Sophomore passes for 300 and rushes for 112 in victory
After accumulating 412 yards of total offense and accounting for three touchdowns in a 28-23 victory over Tennessee State, Murray State sophomore quarterback was named the Ohio Valley Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Sunday. In addition, Brockman and punter Kienan Cullen were honorable mention selections to the College Football Performance list.
Brockman (Murray, Ky.) put his name in the MSU record books as he became the second Racer signal caller to pass for 300 yards and rush for 100 yards in the same game. The self proclaimed “Wild Horse” went 22-for-33 for 300 yards and a touchdown through the air, while carrying the ball 13 times for 112 yards and two scores. The only other time it happened was against TSU in 2007 with Jeff Ehrhardt passing for 330 yards and rushing for 104.
Brockman got the Racers on the board in the first quarter as he capped off a nine-play drive by rolling right and racing for the corner of the endzone for a seven-yard touchdown. On the Racers second drive of the second half, Brockman gave MSU the lead for good as he rumbled 22-yards for his second rushing score of the game. He sealed the victory later in the third quarter as he connected with Marcus Harris on a 68-yard touchdown.
In nine games this season, Brockman went 213-for-320 for 2,442 yards and 15 touchdowns. He also ran for 292 yards and seven touchdowns.
