The Murray State soccer team kicked off the 2010 regular season with a 0-0 tie against Bellarmine Friday afternoon in Louisville, Ky.
The Racers (0-0-1) controlled the offensive flow for a majority of the match, outshooting the Knights 11-4 with 10 shots on goal and recording the only six shot attempts in overtime.
“Today being our first game, we saw a lot of things that we need to work on,” coach Beth Acreman said. “I saw some good things happen, but putting the ball in the back of the net is the main agenda. We're ready to see some good competition and I think SLU will give us that, but we need to get mentally and physically ready for Sunday.”
Senior goalkeeper Tara Isbell tallied her 18th career shutout, playing all 110 minutes in stopping both Bellarmine attempts on net in regulation.
Brittany Rogers and Amy Kunowski combined to save 10 shots in net for the Knights (0-0-1).
MSU returns to road action on Aug. 22 with a 1:00 p.m. kick-off at Saint Louis. The Racers play their first home game of the year Aug. 27 at 2:00 p.m. in the opening match of the Racer Classic against South Florida.
