Racers Post Third Place - Lagerborg Fourth At Drake Creek Invitational

MSU Drake Creek Invitational Final Results

The Murray State women's golf team came home with a positive feeling after posting a third place finish at the MSU Drake Creek Invitational at Drake Creek GC in Ledbetter, Ky.

The Racers, who started slowly in the first round with a 329, rallied to finish with scores of 297 and 300 for a 926 total and a third place finish in the field of eight teams.

“The last two rounds show what kind of scores we're capable of posting,” MSU Head Coach Velvet Milkman said. “We'll take this positive feeling we have and try to build on it.”

Morehead State was the winner with an 893, while Western Kentucky posted a second place finish at 909.

Caroline Lagerborg posted her best collegiate finish with a fourth place showing with rounds of 77-73-77=227, while Delaney Howson came home in ninth place with scores of 84-73-72=229. Alex Lennartsson and Alli Weaver shared 21^st place. Lennarston had scores of 87-75-73=235, with Weaver carding scores of 81-76-78=235. Alex Hinteregger placed 54^th with scores of 90-87-88=265.

MSU had three individuals in the event, with Morgan Cross posting a 25^th place finish with scores of 79-80-78=237, while Jilian Brake finished 47th with scores of 85-82-86=253 and Leah Eisenhauer placed 55^th with scores of 101-95-90=286.

Emma Jonsson of Morehead State was the medalist with scores of 75-73-70=218.

Eastern Kentucky finished fourth at 931, with Belmont (939), Austin Peay (940), Tennessee Tech (950) and Lipscomb (962) rounding out the field.

The Racers' next challenge is the Cincinnati Fall Classic Monday and Tuesday at Elks Run GC.
