MSU had to battle JSU and trailed by as many as 10 points in the first half, when the score was 23-13. MSU managed to finish the half outscoring the Gamecocks 19-9 to get the score tied at 32-32 at halftime.
MSU finally got the lead for the first time with 16:35 remaining when McClain scored in the paint for a 41-40 lead, and the Racers eventually grew their lead to 10 at the 12:56 mark on an Ivan Aska hook shot.

Isacc Miles who led MSU with 19 points has scored in double-figures the last three games for a 15.0 points per game average.
B.J. Jenkins entered the game ranked first in the OVC and seventh in NCAA D-I with a .929 average from the free throw line. Jenkins was 2-2 tonight and is now 41-44 (.931).
The Racers lead the all-time series with Tennessee Tech 117-46 and are 42-37 all-time at the Eblen Center. The TTU-MSU series, which started in 1930, is tied for the oldest series for MSU (along with Middle Tennessee) among all current and past OVC members.
