Harris Named adidas OVC Offensive Player of the Week

Murray State running back Mike Harris returned to the Racers lineup in a major way as the senior tied a school record with four rushing touchdowns in a come-from-behind Homecoming victory over Eastern Illinois. For his efforts, Harris was named the adidas Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Sunday.
Harris (Tulsa, Okla.) rushed for 133 yards, while tieing his career-high with 30 rushing attempts. He becomes the ninth Racer to rush for four touchdowns in a game, and the first since Stevie Chaney against Austin Peay in 2005.
Harris did a lit bit of everything on the opening-drive of the game as he completed a 31-yard pass to Walter Powell, before capping the drive with a one-yard touchdown run.
With the Racers down six in the second quarter, Harris broke through the center of the line and outran the defense to the endzone for a 22-yard touchdown run.
MSU entered the fourth quarter trailing by 10 points, before Harris put the Racers on his back. In a 17-play scoring drive, Harris carried the ball 11 times for 41 yards, including the two-yard touchdown run on third down.
The Racers used the momentum of the drive to take the lead in the final minute and get the ball back after a turnover. After three runs put the Racers in a 4th-and-11, Harris went over left tackle, broke three tackles and raced 24 yards for the game-clinching touchdown.
The 133-yard rushing performance marked the fourth time in six games Harris has eclipsed the 100-yard mark. He equals his total of four 100-yard rushing performances from a season ago. Harris' eight career 100-yard games ties him for sixth on the all-time list.
