After tieing a school record for field goals in a game, Murray State senior kicker Kienan Cullen was named the adidas Ohio Valley Conference Specialist of the Week, the league office announced Sunday. It marks the second-straight week Cullen was honored by the OVC.
Cullen (Louisville, Ky.) became the third Racer to hit five field goals in a game when he hit from 37, 33, 41, 30 and 22 yards in the 56-24 victory over Austin Peay. He joins Greg Duncan (1988) and Rob Hart (1996) atop the Racer record book. Cullen is also the fifth kicker in the FCS this season to make at least five field goals in a game.
He helped the Racers jump out to a big early advantage as he hit field goals on the Racers first four possessions of the game. He later capped the first drive of the second half with his record-setting field goal. Cullen also helped setup the final scoring drive of the game as he converted a fake punt by completing a 21-yard pass to Walter Powell.
Cullen is having his best kicking season of his career as he has made 15-of-16 field goals, including a career-best nine in a row. His previous best was eight-straight makes during the 2009 season. It was also the second completion of his career, completing a 15-yard pass against Indiana in 2008.
